The story behind my Newfoundland Tartan Tealight...
My brother and I were both born in Corner Brook while our parents (the quintessential couple, a Nurse and a Mountie) were stationed in Newfoundland. From Corner Brook, we went to St John’s and everywhere in between! Newfoundland has always been dear to my heart!
The colours of the tartan are derived from the ‘Ode to Newfoundland’, the province’s anthem.
Gold represents the sun’s rays,
Green the pine clad hills supplying wood for the principal industry,
White of the winter snow,
Brown for the mineral wealth of the Province* and
Imperial Red to commemorate the Royal Standard and her British origins.
